Google Chrome may get AdBlock Plus
As I’ve posted earlier, I’m an avid fan of FireFox. I tried out Google’s new Chrome browser when it was first announced, and I was impressed. It did seem a tiny bit faster than FireFox (more detailed reports were posted at LifeHacker) and the tab system seems a lot less cluttered than FireFox. But despite being impressed, I wasn’t going to switch from my beloved FireFox.
The one thing that would make me consider switching to Google’s Chrome, though, is the possibility that Chrome may eventually have plug-ins, including AdBlock Plus.
CNET reported today that a new Chrome extensions document includes details about the ability for Chrome to support plug-ins, including: AdBlock Plus, bookmarking tools like StumbleUpon, and download tools like FlashGot.
It’s really nice to see the browser wars heating up again. The one bright spot about the new competition between Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer 8 and FireFox is that all are really trying harder to meet standards, which hopefully will mean less cross-browser testing (although my better judgment tells me that there’ll still probably be bugs and ugly css-hacks – but it’s okay to hope, right?!).

Well, I’m glad they finally are getting around to it. I dig Chrome, but I am so accustomed to my extensions in FireFox…
There is the current ad-block script for Chrome, however, it is based on the list that they have. You cannot add your own exceptions to the list easily. Which is a bit of an annoyance. But progress is always good.
