Zoho releases direct SQL access to its cloud service databases

zohologo Zoho released CloudSQL today, allowing its customers to directly access data stored in Zoho services via SQL, including access via ODBC and JDBC.  Data in Zoho’s services was previously available only via their APIs, but now with CloudSQL customers can write direct SQL queries to retrieve data.

This could be quite useful for anyone that wants to use Zoho for their business data, but write reports in something like Microsoft Excel or Access, or even write custom web applications.

Of course, a few people might say “but what about the business logic layer? Who will think of the business logic layer!?”

Business logic layer?  We don’t need no stinkin’ business logic layer.
