Facebook used to serve legal papers in Australia

Australia’s legal system has found a new use for Facebook: serving up legal documents via Facebook’s notification system.
In what appears to be the world’s first case of “you got (legally) served” on Facebook, Master Harper of the ACT Supreme Court decreed that a default judgment in a court case could be served by Facebook’s notification system last week.
The Australian courts already allow documents to be served via email, so in this situation Facebook served as a substitute service for email.
Anyone up for writing a Facebook app that notifies you of impending court dates?
