What can I say about myself?

  • I’ve spent over 13 years in the software industry: 6 years spent as a Systems Adminisrator, 4 as a Systems Architect for enterprise web solutions, and 3 years in Internet Software Product Management.
  • I’m a PHP, Ruby on Rails and .NET enthusiast, although I don’t mind occasionally dabbling in Java if its required.
  • Nearly everything I’ve learned about technology is self-taught, and I have a true passion for solving everyday problems with technology.
  • I’m extremely opinionated about technology, especially IT solutions for business, and I love discussing technology with other people.

So what does “Wekti” mean, anyway?

Wekti is an old English word meaning thing or creature. Since nobody ever really speaks the word anymore, I don’t really know how it’s supposed to be pronounced, but I imagine it sounding something like:

  • WHECK-TEA

Supposedly it also has connections to wight and naught. I don’t know whether that’s important or not.

Here are some common mispronunciations:

  • Wet Key
  • Whacky
  • Wet Tea
  • Whee Tea
  • Whee Key
  • Wank Tee

… And so on.
